Sustainability becoming high-priority for hoteliers

As the world becomes more and more focused on sustainability, hotels are starting to see the importance of making changes to stay successful.
Going green is no longer just about recycling. It encompasses everything from consumer behavior to food and beverage inventory management to hotel design and construction.
Tourism has a large carbon footprint, contributing to climate change and rising sea levels. This is due to the transportation of tourists and supplies for hotels, among other things. Younger generations are particularly concerned about the environment and are willing to take action to support sustainable practices.
The hospitality industry is being pushed to be more sustainable and transparent about its progress. Hoteliers worldwide are beginning to implement sustainable practices, such as removing single-use plastics and employing water-saving solutions. These actions are visible to guests through initiatives like TripAdvisor’s GreenLeaders program, UNESCO Sustainable Travel Pledge, and LEED green building ratings.
